A new AGM battery: the AGM Super Cycle battery
AGM Super Cycle batteries are the result of the latest developments in battery electrochemistry. The paste of the positive plates is less susceptible to softening, even if the battery is regularly discharged to 100%. In addition, new additives in the electrolyte reduce sulfation under deep discharge.
Tests have shown that the Super Cycle battery withstands at least three hundred cycles at 100% depth of discharge (DoD). The tests consist of a daily discharge at 10.8 V with I = 0.2C, followed by approximately two hours of rest in the discharged state, and then a recharge with I = 0.2C). The two hours of rest in a discharged state will damage most batteries after 100 cycles, but this is not the case with the Super Cycle battery.
We recommend using the Super Cycle battery in applications requiring occasional DoD 100% depth discharge, or requiring frequent 60-80% depth discharge
Another benefit of the new chemistry is that it allows for a smaller size and lighter weight compared to our standard deep cycle AGM batteries.
