The BMV-702 is a high precision battery monitor. The essential function of a battery monitor is to calculate the ampere-hour consumption and the level of charge of the battery. The consumption in ampere-hours is calculated by integrating the current flow entering or leaving the battery.
The remaining capacity of the battery depends on the ampere-hours consumed, the discharge current, the temperature and the age of the battery. To account for all these variables, complex software algorithms are required. In addition to the basic display options, such as voltage, current and amp-hours consumed, the BMV-700 series also displays the state of charge, the remaining autonomy and the consumption in Watt. The BMV-702 has an additional input that can be programmed to measure voltage (of a second battery), or temperature or midpoint voltage.
All electrical connections are made by quick connection on the printed circuit board (PCB) of the shunt. The shunt is connected to the controller with a standard RJ12 telephone cable. Included: RJ12 cable (10 m) and battery cable with fuse (2 m). No other components are needed. The other parts supplied are a display with rectangular screen, a fixing ring for rear mounting, and the screws required for front mounting.
