Drift Mode: Today's fishermen must constantly battle environmental conditions to maintain a constant course and speed. Drift mode uses both course steering and cruise control to manage boat control. Fishermen no longer need a sea anchor or other auxiliary aids to control the boat's movement.

Short shaft motors with a shaft length of 152.4 cm have only one depth adjustment collar, which is used to adjust the motor's depth when deployed. When stowing the motor, the depth adjustment collar is placed against the steering gear to ensure a secure stowage.

Long shaft motors with a shaft length of 182.9 cm, 221 cm, or 254 cm are equipped with a tie-down locking collar, a coiled cord slider, and a depth adjustment collar. On long shaft motors, the depth adjustment collar works to keep the motor at the proper depth when deployed. The tie-down locking collar is unlocked to allow the shaft to move freely during stowing and deployment. Once the motor is stowed, the tie-down locking collar is locked to ensure secure stowage. The tie-down locking collar can also be locked to keep the motor at the proper depth when deployed in shallow water.
